01 Forge a New Social Contract

We will build a movement to put an economic floor under every family. No more choosing between rent and groceries. We demand affordable health care, food, energy and housing — and we will work to guarantee excellent education and child and senior care as basic rights.

02 Guarantee Power on the Job

Collective bargaining rights for all. End the ability of employers to oppose and then ignore union organizing and their legal obligation to negotiate. Collective bargaining is the best way to cut the gap between workers and the billionaires — without government spending.

03 Invest in the Green Industrial Revolution and Sustainable Growth – Not Job-Destroying AI

The US needs economic growth. But we can’t have a healthy economy if we keep burning planet-warming carbon fuels. The steps needed to stop global warming will drive economic growth, good jobs and prosperity in the future. The force now driving growth, Artificial Intelligence, is now destroying jobs and setting up an economic bubble. So, we will empower local and national efforts to regulate AI systems for good.

04 Fight for Equality

Dismantle racism, tax the rich, raise wages, and empower women. Incomes of Americans at the very top have grown much faster than for middle or lower tiers, driven by returns on capital and high-end labor markets.

05 Tax the Oligarchs and Big Corporations

The free ride is over for the super-rich and big corporations. We will aggressively tax billionaires and giant corporations to fund a new social contract and the public services — health care, child care, schools, roads and research — that working people need but oligarchs won’t pay for.

06 Transform Corporate Power

Corporations and banks should serve the people, not the other way around. We will break the stranglehold of big money on our economy and we will ensure that private profit never overrides the public good.

07 Reclaim Our Democracy — And Write Rules That Strengthen the Power of the People

We will rewrite the rules of our political system, getting big money out of politics — first in Democratic primaries, and then in general elections. When Democrats have a Senate majority, they must eliminate initial cloture — so legislation is actually debated and passed with majority rule.

Foreign policy and trade must benefit working Americans, not just multinational CEOs. We will pursue a global economic strategy that ends the “race to the bottom” and promotes peace, a healthy economy and stability.

OUR STATEMENT

After decades of corporate takeover of our economy, Donald Trump promised to champion the working class — and to end “forever wars.” He Lied.

Instead, he is now putting corporate oligarchs in control of our economy, and he is stoking a disastrous war in the Middle East — while American families are left with soaring prices and a hollowed-out democracy.

Today’s economic crisis didn’t start with Trump. It’s the result of a 40-year project of conservative Evil Geniuses who rigged the system to shift wealth and power to the rich and giant corporations.

Today the richest billionaires — now known as oligarchs — are also the heads of the largest corporations. They have thrown in with Trump — because he gives them what they want.And they are using their wealth to buy our democracy.

Trump won two elections by tapping people’s anger over an economy that didn’t work for them. But instead of fixing economic problems, he pits Americans against each other.

We are done being divided by greed and hatred.

We are choosing Solidarity.

The Commitment

We, the signers of this Solidarity Agenda are encouraged that people from all parts of American society now see through the broken promises of Trump and his billionaires. And young Americans now realize we are going to have to fight — with allies — for a decent future.

We are moved by the spirit of Solidarity that inspired the American Revolution and the Civil Rights and Labor movement — the same courageous spirit of the people of Minneapolis who stood up for their community in the face of violent attacks.

We vow to show Americans that Trump and his party have no solutions to our inflation and jobs problems. But the Solidarity Agenda will also help build a movement for practical ideas (and visionary goals) that will take rising prices, create jobs, and make our economic lives better.
